Posiva

Ground-breaking work by 100 professionals in many different fields

Posiva has around 100 employees, in addition to which the company provides jobs for a large number of subcontractors and consultants. Posiva has grown substantially over the last few years, and our successful operations demand continual recruitment of new experts.

The duties of the Posiva staff vary from various research, development and planning tasks associated with the final disposal of nuclear waste to the implementation planning and support activities for the repository. For this reason, the work environment at Posiva is broadly multidisciplinary: our staff include experts in fields including

  • geology
  • geophysics
  • physics
  • chemistry
  • hydrology
  • rock mechanics
  • structural engineering
  • industrial engineering
  • and other fields of engineering, social sciences and business economics.

Around four fifths of all Posiva employees have an education in engineering, mathematics or science. Half of the staff hold a master’s degree, and around one in ten has completed a scientific postgraduate degree. Besides expertise in their own field, we appreciate language skills, co-operation skills and an ability to work diligently, following Posiva’s strict safety culture. What can Posiva offer You?

We offer stimulating and challenging tasks related to nuclear waste management in an internationally esteemed company; plenty of opportunities for developing your skills; a variety of means to ensure your well-being at work; and a number of other benefits that currently include free bus travel from Rauma and Eurajoki to Olkiluoto.

As the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel is a field in which no higher education exists, except in a very few areas, Posiva trains all its employees for their particular tasks as well as for all special issues in nuclear waste management. To this end, Posiva has provided introductory courses in areas such as nuclear waste management, geosciences and bedrock groundwater management. Furthermore, we encourage everyone to develop their expertise further with a varied continuing professional education.
